Plantar Fasciitis: Causes, Symptoms, and How to Treat It

This common foot problem happens when the thick band of tissue under your foot (plantar fascia) becomes sore or swollen. This tissue connects your heel to your toes. The pain usually feels sharp and is often worse in the morning or after standing for a long time.

What Causes It?

The condition can start for many reasons. Some common causes include:

  • Wearing shoes with poor support
  • Having flat feet or high arches
  • Running or standing a lot
  • A sudden increase in physical activity

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis:
